5 Places to Grab a Quick & Delicious Lunch in Claremont

Updated: Mar 9, 2023

A very good friend of mine asked me, "Rosemary, I work in Claremont and yet I was stumped on where to grab a quick lunch with my boss on our lunch break. Can you help me?!" Why yes, I can absolutely help! Claremont is full of options to grab a quick and yummy lunch that is reasonably priced. This post breaks down 5 recommendations of where to grab lunch in Claremont whether you're on your work lunch break, meeting up with a friend, or visiting Claremont on a weekend afternoon.

1) Honeybird

Honeybird is relatively new to the City of Trees and opened their third location September 2022. Located in the Village Plaza, off Indian Hill Blvd., Honeybird offers gourmet fried chicken dishes in a casual, modern environment that is reasonably priced. Grab a 2 or 3 piece fried chicken meal with sides such as waffle fries, chipotle mac 'n cheese, garlic mashed potatoes and more. Other menu items include spicy chicken, fish, and Po Boy sandwiches. Stop by during the weekend for their special brunch menu.

2) The Spot Café

Located in the Trader Joe’s shopping center off Foothill Blvd, The Spot Café has something for everyone offering wraps, paninis, salads, bowls, and pizza all made with fresh, quality ingredients. My favorites menu items are the cilantro chicken wrap, spicy tuna salad wrap, grilled cheese, and BBQ chicken panini. It is a café after all, why not add an espresso drink, fresh squeezed juice, or smoothie to your meal and take a seat in their outdoor patio to enjoy.

*Local tip* They offer meal prep plans for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

3) Petiscos

This place is a personal favorite of mine and a true Claremont gem. Petiscos is a little blue house hidden in plain sight on First Street and is my go to for fish tacos, pozole, street corn, chorizo burrito and crisp Mexican lager or horchata. They offer a variety of tacos like fish, chorizo, chicken, pork, and veggie options (potatoes and cactus). Seating is outdoor only and picnic table style with charming outdoor décor including stringed lights, potted plants, and a suspended little plane. Cute, huh?

4) Some Crust Bakery

Okay, so, I know Some Crust is a bakery with the best tasting breakfast egg sliders but have you tried their paninis?! They’re delicious and perfect for a quick lunch. Some Crust, located on Yale Ave in Claremont Village, offers hot and cold sandwiches made with fresh ingredients leaving you feeling satisfied. My personal favorites are the pesto chicken, tuna melt, grilled cheese, and egg salad. Check out their sandwich menu.

5) Wolfe's Market Kitchen & Deli

This Claremont staple has been serving mouth watering, high quality deli meat and cheese for over 4 generations. As Wolfe’s Market Kitchen & Deli states on their website, “We only serve our customers high quality deli meats and cheeses from Boar’s Head...We have sandwiches created and catered to the foodies, big eaters, simple eaters, animal lovers, meat lovers and health nut.” There are a plethora of sandwiches such as pastrami, Hawaiian pulled pork, guacamole club, Rueben, Italian, veggie and so much more. Add a side such as potato salad, coleslaw, or kale salad. They’re truly one of the best sandwiches you can get in town!
